Description
Careful craftsmanship meets selected materials: the Rohema TT 104 is a timpani mallet featuring a medium-hard, hand-sewn felt head. Inside is a cork core around which the white felt is carefully sewn. With a diameter of approximately 36 mm, the round head combines traditional construction with a medium-hard specification.
Rohema uses Tonkin bamboo for the shaft, a particularly thick-walled type of bamboo. Its canes grow very straight and feature wide spacing between their characteristic nodes. Tonkin is also harder and more stable than many other types of bamboo while remaining pleasantly lightweight – properties that make it particularly suitable for mallet construction.
The 385 mm shaft has a diameter of 10 mm and is treated with a wax-oil finish. The TT 104 therefore combines a slim Tonkin bamboo shaft with a hand-sewn, medium-hard felt head for timpani playing.
