Rohema Rakatak Red – Clapper Instrument with a Bright Sound

Clatter, accent and bring stories to life with sound: the Rohema Rakatak Red is an unusual rhythm instrument with a characteristic bright sound. Its distinctive construction produces a clear clattering tone with every movement, reminiscent of galloping horses or the rattle of a rattlesnake.

The hollow, open-ended resonating body features a slot that contributes to the development of the sound. A movable striker runs through the body, with its balls hitting both sides as the instrument is moved back and forth. This creates precise, clearly accented sounds that can be used to accompany rhythmic exercises, songs, rhymes or sound stories.

The Rakatak is made from beechwood sourced from local forests and finished with wax. The balls of the striker are lacquered red with a saliva- and sweat-resistant finish. Measuring 185 mm in length and 35 mm in diameter, the red Rakatak combines an easy-to-handle shape with a bright and distinctive clattering sound.
