Description
Strike it or scrape it? With the Rohema Guiro Tone Block, you can do both. This versatile percussion instrument combines the playing technique of a tube drum with the characteristic rasping sound of a guiro, offering two different ways to explore rhythm and sound.
The hollow resonating body can be struck with the included wooden beater. Its surface also features grooves that can be scraped with the handle of the beater to produce the characteristic guiro sound. Both playing techniques can be used separately or combined to add further variety to rhythmic activities and group music-making.
The Guiro Tone Block is made from locally sourced beechwood and finished with a thin layer of lacquer. The lacquer is saliva- and sweat-resistant. Switching between striking and scraping allows children in particular to explore different movements while developing a playful understanding of rhythm, sound production and coordination.
