Description
Strike, scrape and explore: the Rohema Guiro 2-Tone Block combines several sound possibilities in one handy percussion instrument. Two different tones meet the characteristic scraping sound of a guiro, providing plenty of variety for rhythmic playing.
The instrument is held in the centre, with a resonating body positioned on either side. These can be struck with the beater to produce two different tones. One side also features a grooved surface. Scraping the beater across these grooves creates the characteristic rasping sound of a guiro.
The Guiro 2-Tone Block is made from locally sourced beechwood and finished with a very thin layer of lacquer. The combination of different playing techniques is particularly engaging for children: striking and scraping can be explored, compared and combined to create their own rhythmic patterns.
