Armin & Mario Gropp Gitarren- und Lautenbaumeister
Armin & Mario Gropp represent instrument making that hasn’t been reinvented – it has grown over time. Armin Gropp, born in 1941, began his journey in the 1950s. He trained at the violin-making company Max Dölling in Markneukirchen before moving into guitar making and working for many years in the family business of Kurt Gropp. His craftsmanship had time to develop.
He earned his master craftsman certificate in 1966, was later recognized as an artist in instrument making, and received an honorary award in 1987. Since 1990, he has been working independently, supported by decades of experience. With Mario Gropp, the next generation joined. Born in 1967, he trained with Heinz & Christian Sandner in Erlbach, completed his journeyman years there, and later joined his father’s workshop. He received his master certificate in 1992. Since 2001, both have worked side by side – in a workshop where knowledge is not divided, but shared.
Two generations meet here – not as contrast, but as continuity.
