Walter Geipel

Sometimes, it’s the little things that make the difference when you play. The story of Walter Geipel began in 1908 in Kirchberg, near the traditional violin-making town of Schönbach.

It was here that Walter Geipel founded a company specializing in the production of rosin for string instruments. The quality of its products soon helped them find their way far beyond the region.

A small musical accessory became the foundation of a tradition spanning generations.

After the Second World War, the company first relocated to Pfarrkirchen and finally moved to Bubenreuth in 1953 – a town closely connected with the history of German musical instrument making.

With the new location, the product range also grew. Alongside rosin, the company began producing soundboard protectors for electric, acoustic and folk guitars, as well as picks, finger picks and thumb picks for guitarists.

In 1965, the production facilities were expanded to meet growing demand and the changing needs of the industry.

One thing, however, has remained unchanged: the company’s commitment to its products. Geipel relies on consistent quality control and the continuous development of its range. Over the years, musicians, soloists and teachers at music academies have also repeatedly praised the quality of Geipel products.
