Philipp & August Richard Hammig - Böhm- und Piccoloflöten
Philipp & August Richard Hammig is not just a name. It’s a lineage. The roots go back to 1780 – and since then, the craft has been passed on from father to son, across generations. Here, tradition isn’t a label. It’s daily practice.
Around 1908, the brothers Philipp Hammig and August Richard Hammig specialized in flute making. Both trained in their father’s workshop before going their separate ways – Philipp to Berlin, August Richard to Saarbrücken – and later bringing their experience back into the family business. That’s what defines Hammig today: experience that doesn’t stand still, but evolves. Gerhard Hammig, born in 1927, later took over his father’s workshop. After training within the family, he continued the tradition, further developed the “Philipp Hammig” model, and in 1988 reunited both family lines by taking over his uncle’s company. Since 1994, the craft has been in the hands of the next generation. Hammig flutes are not quick solutions.
They are made for musicians who understand that sound takes time. Or simply put: You don’t just play them. You grow with them.
