Description
A new interpretation of the classic 5A: the Rohema 5A Evolution was developed as part of a research project between Rohema and the Institute for Musical Instrument Making. The aim was to combine the familiar characteristics of a 5A with significantly improved rebound performance.
The considerably longer shoulder provides more rebound, speed and drive. Measurements by the institute showed clearly higher rebound rates compared with a conventional 5A hickory drumstick. At the same time, the centre of balance remains familiar thanks to the specially rounded butt end.
To maintain the typical weight despite the modified shape, the Evolution is made from hickory selected from a heavier weight class. The higher wood density also supports durability. A taper at the butt end additionally provides tactile orientation, making it easier to notice when the hand moves away from the optimal grip position.
